The Italian law enabled private companies to manage port terminals, previously controlled by the public sector, in 1994, and since then our group has been coordinating operations in Ro-Ro shipments, expanding the storage capacity, operational skills and port equipment over the decades, reaching record numbers of 250,000 heavy units handled yearly.
Such business has been developing and focusing on linking mainland Europe with Türkiye and its neighboring markets, through the Port of Trieste, the natural gateway for this route. Specifically, being inside the Customs Free Port also means smooth and fast in/out procedures and document filing, and in order to optimize loading/unloading operations and vessels' arrival and departure, the terminal staff works on multiple shift and operations go on 24/7, including for customs formalities.
Traffic flows on these lines are mainly made of semi-trailers, followed by complete trucks, 45'HC double-stack containers, tank containers, new vehicles and heavy lifts that can fit onboard. Next to the mostly used pier, transhipment operations are available with specific equipment and personnel.
