On the 11th May, DFDS and Ulusoy Sealines, the ship owners we represent in our capacity of General Agents, voluntarily signed the Trieste & Monfalcone Blue Agreement. According to it, vessels reaching, maneuvering and berthing at the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone will use low sulphury bunker fuels, with even lower emissions than those allowed by law, and will optimize the use of main and auxiliary engines, helping improve the air quality levels in city areas.
This commitment follows up to the first signature of the 8th October 2021 when the Agreement was launched during the Barcolana Sea Summit, and endorsed by the Rear Admiral Vincenzo Vitale, Captain in Chief of the Trieste Harbor Master, Zeno D'Agostino, President of the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea and our colleague Paolo Spada, in his capacity of President of the Ship Agents’ Association of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
At the recent signing, DFDS Mediterranean Business Unit was represented by its Vice President Kemal Bozkurt, and Ulusoy Sealines by its General Manager Mesut Cesur. Our Managing Director Lilli Samer joined the ceremony as well, together with numerous representatives from the local institutions.
