The world’s largest industrial valve, certified by Guinness World Records, has departed from the Port of Trieste–Seadock bound for Saudi Arabia.
Following its official Guinness World Records certification, the world’s largest industrial valve has departed from the Port of Trieste bound for Saudi Arabia.
In December, Trieste-based Orion Valves entered the Guinness World Records for designing and manufacturing the largest wedge gate valve ever built. The valve stands 13,950 millimetres tall and weighs approximately 120 tons, representing a remarkable engineering achievement.
The project involved more than twenty companies based in Friuli Venezia Giulia, alongside partners from Veneto and Croatia, showcasing a strong network of regional excellence and international collaboration. The valve was developed for the AMIRAL project, a world-class petrochemical complex currently under construction in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, promoted through a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and TotalEnergies.
Once installed, the valve will become part of the flare header system—one of the most critical components of petroleum production facilities, designed to safely control and manage process gases.
The journey to Saudi Arabia began at Seadock’s own pier, where the oversized unit was carefully wrapped in protective plastic and loaded as heavy lift cargo onto M/VAsian Victory.
