On December 11th, our President Enrico Samer received the San Giusto d'Oro, a prestigious award conferred by Assostampa Friuli Venezia Giulia - the regional press association - to individuals and organisations supporting and promoting the city of Trieste. The San Giusto d'Oro prize was established in 1967 by the network of Trieste reporters and has now reached its 58th edition, supported by Fondazione CRTrieste.

As the journalists’ explanation refers, ‘The award to Enrico Samer duly acknowledges the work of a great professional, a company and a family representing the best of a Trieste that wants to play a leading role on the European stage. The city is growing, aware of its great potential, and its relation with the sea is vital for any future development. Trieste is its sea, its port, but also its infrastructures, which have yet to grow. The Samer family has always understood that. As well as they have always known that logistics play a crucial role for Trieste, its port and its future’.

Enrico Samer and the entire Samer family's commitment to patronage and the city's sport environment also influenced the decision, in particular their involvement with Pallanuoto Trieste, Triestina Nuoto and the realization of Trieste Campus.

The ceremony took place at the hall of the City Council and was attended by representatives of the local institution and civil society, joined by some employees of the Samer Group.
Enrico Samer said, ‘I am honoured to receive this award and share this moment with those helping immigrants coming from the Balkan route. I believe that entrepreneurship and solidarity must go hand in hand’.

He went on, ‘When I look at the list of people and organisations that have received the San Giusto d'Oro before me, I believe that they have one common feature: a deep love for the city and an unwavering trust in Trieste's future at all costs. I believe that Trieste can still grow and that it’s finally gaining its own central role. We are moving from linear to exponential growth. In order to manage change and achieve great goals, we need a shared vision of our city: business, politics and social stakeholders must find a balance to create the unified vision that will be the strength of the future Trieste’.

In addition to the award to Enrico Samer, Assostampa FVG conferred their special plaque to Rete Solidale Trieste, made up by the Community of San Martino al Campo, Diaconia Valdese, Donk - Humanitarian Medicine, Ics - Consorzio Italiano di Solidarietà, International Rescue Committee, Linea d'Ombra and No Name Kitchen.
