Türkiye-Europe Sea Highway: a great resource for Italy

Enrico Samer was invited to speak at the first edition of the 'Risorsa Mare' Forum held in Trieste on the 14th and 15th September.
The initiative, that we sponsored, was launched by The European House – Ambrosetti. It brought together politicians and businessmen and focused on the competitiveness and attractiveness of the sea as a whole.
In such an event, Enrico Samer could not fail to highlight the role of the Türkiye-Europe Sea Highway, which today more than ever is a preferential route connecting the Eastern Mediterranean basin to Europe through Trieste, and vice versa, as well as a structured and successful business model, capable of guaranteeing the competitiveness of the port of Trieste and the country as a whole.
In this geography, Türkiye is right now on the spotlight as supplier or transit country for those raw materials and commodities that used to come from Russia and Belarus, whose flows are now frozen due to the Russo-Ukrainian conflict and where Trieste is playing a key role in importing and distributing goods to continental Europe, relying on a thick network of rail connections. A complex of trade lanes bound to expand with the recent cooperation agreements we signed with countries such as Lithuania, Uzbekistan and in the near future even Uganda.
