Our President and CEO, Enrico Samer - who is also President of Pallanuoto Trieste - expressed great satisfaction for Lucrezia Cergol, the captain of the A1 Pallanuoto Trieste female team. She won the bronze medal together with her co-players by defending the Italian colours at the European Championships in Split.
It is the first time for the A1 Pallanuoto Trieste female team that one of its athletes wins a bronze medal for the Italian senior national team at the European Championships.
The competition - that only follows by importance the Olympics and World Championships - was held in Split (Croatia) from the 27th August to the 8th September.
Lucrezia played greatly in the water with the Italian cap. She scored four goals during the European matches: one to Israel, two to Serbia (the national team where another Pallanuoto Trieste athlete plays, Jelena Vukovic) and one to Croatia in the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, Italy lost the semi-final to Greece, but the team overturned the trend and ranked third by winning 16-13 against the Netherlands and earning the bronze medal.
