Sea Highway, great performance in the first semester 2021

As General Agents for Italy of DFDS and Ulusoy Sealines, we daily manage Ro-Ro sailings between Türkiye and Trieste on the basis of the following current schedule:

We recorded the traffic data for the first half of the year, and rather good statistics make us think that we are finally overcoming the pandemic fear and the effects it could still have on our customers’ productivity and traffic flows. By comparing the first semester of 2021 versus 2020, all percentages are positive.

Heavy transports recorded an increase by 31% with a total of 120,686 loaded units compared to 92,040 in 2020. Data relating to containers show even higher figures, with 29,666 containers moved from January to June this year, 54% more than the same period of the past year.

The Pendik line is still confirmed as the most performing one, also thanks to the 7 calls per week. We recorded 21,453 total containers handled in the first semester, i.e., an increase by 55% as against the same period in 2020. The most significant peaks for the line were in February and May. 

In the coming months, a general adjustment to the same values as in 2020 is expected, because it was a period in which our past surveys reported normal values, no longer affected by the Covid effects.
