The Türkiye-Trieste Sea Highway and the Trieste logistics system proved their efficiency durind the recent earthquake that affected Croatia.
Our company, in collaboration with Samer Seaport & Terminals and DFDS, managed the free-of-charge transport of 100 emergency housing modules made available by the Turkish government through the AFAD (Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency), that reached the port of Trieste through our Sea Highway connecting Türkiye and Trieste, and from there were moved by 50 trucks to the Croatian city of Petrinja, the epicenter of the recent earthquake.
Our action is part of the ’Time for Brotherhood’ aid operation and was organized in two separate slots. 30 modules were transported to Croatia by 15 trucks on the 6th January, the remaining modules arrived on the 9th January at the Samer Ro-Ro Terminal of the port of Trieste on 35 trucks on board the M/V ‘Ephesus Seaways’ owned by DFDS.
Despite the oversized cargo and the day off, all the involved parties (the police, customs authorities, ANAS and the Trieste Port Authority, with the coordination of the Prefettura) contributed to the success of the mission, proving an important commitment. Our President Enrico Samer expressed his sincere thanks amplified by the fact that the passage of oversized load trucks occurred in record time.
The Türkiye-Trieste Sea Highway and the Trieste logistics system once again proved their efficiency, with even greater satisfaction on such a delicate occasion.
